From BIM Coordinator to the bridge between customers and product development

WeiWei spent many years working as an architect and BIM coordinator in Germany. As a power user of BIMcollab, she used the platform every day in her projects. When she realised that the traditional architecture world was no longer the right fit for her, she decided to take a different path.

Today, she works as a Customer Success Manager at BIMcollab. Based in Germany, she helps customers across the DACH region get the most out of BIMcollab while acting as a bridge between users, product development, and the market.

I knew BIMcollab before I worked here

My background is in architecture.

Originally, I’m from China, but I studied and built my career in Germany, focusing on BIM and architecture. In my previous role, I worked as a BIM Coordinator and used BIMcollab on a daily basis.

So I already knew the product well before joining the company.

In fact, André and several members of the support team used to help me when I was still a customer. That made the transition to BIMcollab feel very natural. I knew the product, I knew the people, and I understood the value it could bring.

Why I left traditional architecture behind

Throughout my career, I gradually discovered what motivates me and what doesn’t.

Architecture is fascinating, but I realised that the traditional architect role was not my long-term goal.

One reason is that results in construction projects often take years to become visible. Sometimes it takes two years, sometimes ten, before you can truly see what has been built.

I discovered that I enjoy seeing results more quickly and receiving direct feedback.

In my current role, I can often see the impact of my work within weeks or months. When I help a customer solve a problem or improve a process, I can see the results much sooner.

That gives me a lot of satisfaction.

I also wanted to contribute to the digital transformation of the construction industry.

I saw how much repetitive work still existed within architecture and BIM workflows. Technology has the potential to change that.

I wanted to be part of that change.

Helping customers become successful

Today, I work as a Customer Success Manager.

My main responsibility is helping customers get as much value as possible from BIMcollab.

That means helping them achieve their goals, understand their challenges, and further develop their BIM processes.

We work with both mid-sized organisations and large enterprise customers across the DACH region.

What I enjoy most about this role is that it goes far beyond software.

The conversations are not just about features and functionality. They are about processes, strategy, and helping organisations achieve their BIM ambitions.

Acting as the bridge between customers and product development

I often see myself as a translator.

On one side, I help customers understand how BIMcollab can support their goals.

On the other side, I translate customer feedback, challenges, and ideas into valuable input for our product teams.

As a result, I work closely with sales, marketing, support and product development.

This cross-functional collaboration keeps the work diverse and gives me the opportunity to contribute to how our products and customer experience continue to evolve.

Working remotely from Germany, connected to one team

I work fully remotely from Germany.

When I started, that felt a little intimidating. In my previous roles, I had always worked in an office environment.

I wondered whether I would feel connected to my colleagues and the organisation.

In reality, that concern disappeared quickly.

I regularly visit our headquarters in Eindhoven, meet colleagues at events, and stay in close contact with the team. Even though I work from another country, I genuinely feel part of BIMcollab.

For me, this way of working provides exactly the flexibility I need.

With my Chinese background, my life in Germany, and an international team around me, that balance feels very natural.

An international environment where you can be yourself

One of the things I value most about BIMcollab is its international culture.

We work with colleagues from different countries, backgrounds, and perspectives.

At the same time, I had to adjust to the Dutch way of communicating.

Coming from an Asian background, I initially found that directness quite confronting.

Over time, however, I discovered that this openness actually helps people collaborate more effectively and solve problems faster.

I learned that direct feedback is not meant personally. It is simply part of a culture where people are honest, transparent, and genuinely want to help each other improve.

The freedom to find my own path

What matters most to me is the freedom I have been given to grow.

When I joined, I was not only learning a new role. I was also finding my place within an international organisation and adapting to a new culture.

I was given the time to do that.

There was no pressure to have everything figured out immediately. My ideas were taken seriously, and I was given the space to explore where I wanted to grow and how I wanted to contribute.

That has had a huge impact on my personal and professional development.

When will you feel at home here?

I think BIMcollab is a great place for people who are curious about change.

For professionals in architecture, BIM, or engineering who want to use their expertise in a different way.

You do not have to leave your previous experience behind.

In fact, that practical experience helps you better understand customers and create real value.

If you enjoy a dynamic environment, international collaboration, and the freedom to keep developing yourself, BIMcollab can be a very exciting next step in your career.
