Job description

We're looking for an exceptional Lead Developer who will shape the technical direction of our Documents & CDE platform. You’ll act as the technical architect ensuring our platform is performant, secure, and maintainable.

Who are we?

KUBUS has been supplying the architecture and construction industries with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software since 1992, from design software to tools for model checking, issue management and document management. With BIMcollab, our flagship product suite, we are the market leader in BIM quality control with modelchecking and issuemanagement, stimulating BIM-based collaboration throughout the whole lifecycle of buildings or infrastructure. Our platform enables users to create and use a Digital Twin that becomes the single source of truth, from design and construction to management and maintenance.

We empower users to create and maintain high-quality buildings that are circular, energy efficient, and offer a safe environment. We shape the construction industry by facilitating an integrated BIM process with fast, innovative, and user-friendly solutions that integrate with all popular BIM tools. Through high-quality, service-oriented support we let our users experience the power and joy of a smooth BIM process.

We are a firm believer in the circular economy and are an advocate of circular construction. Our software solutions contribute to the responsible use of our scarce resources. Enabling more sustainable decisions to be made from design to construction and then repurpose these materials during demolition. In our internal operations, we strive to be CO2 neutral. For example, the headquarters is virtually carbon-neutral and KUBUS offsets all CO2 emissions by planting new trees in cooperation with Trees For All, of which we are a forest partner.

Your team

As part of our mission to driving model-based collaboration from the design & build phase to maintaining & operating, our Documents CDE (Common Data Environment) team ensures that project files, models, and metadata are organized, secure, and accessible. This team is responsible for the document management capabilities within the BIMcollab platform—handling everything from file storage and versioning to access control and collaboration workflows. We’re looking for a Lead Developer to join this team—someone with a strong backend and cloud background who also understands the importance of creating seamless user experiences. You’ll work alongside skilled engineers who care about reliability, security, and scalable design patterns.

About your role

As a Lead Developer, you will shape the technical direction of our Documents & CDE platform. Working closely with the team, you’ll take ownership of key backend components and cloud services while also contributing to the front-end architecture where needed. You’ll act as the technical architect—ensuring our platform is performant, secure, and maintainable. In this role, you’ll mentor engineers and collaborate with your Engineering Manager (focused on “who and when”) and Product Manager (focused on product priorities and vision) to deliver impactful features. Our stack includes .NET-based services, Azure cloud integrations, and a modern front-end built with Vue.

Key responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Define architectural direction and maintain coding best practices for backend services, cloud integrations, and frontend applications.

  • Collaboration: Align with Product Management to transform business requirements into workable technical solutions.

  • Hands-On Development: Write efficient, maintainable code and lead by example.

  • Quality Assurance: Oversee testing strategies using, guiding the team toward continuous improvement.

  • Lead & Mentor the Team: Provide technical leadership and guidance, to a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and and fun environment.

  • Drive Innovation & Best Practices: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, introducing new tools and methodologies to advance our data capabilities.

Job requirements

What will make you successful in this role

A strong background in backend and cloud architecture (Azure experience is a pre, but not a necessity), combined with a genuine interest in modern frontend frameworks, will set you up for impact. You’ll excel if you can translate complex technical issues into clear action plans and motivate the team to reach ambitious goals.

Collaboration and communication are a big part of this role. You enjoy partnering with teammates across different functions and teams to align on vision and execution. Your coding background means you’re comfortable getting hands-on when necessary, but you also keep the broader vision in mind.

We especially value curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning. If you’re excited about staying on top of emerging technologies, experimenting with new solutions, and helping others on the team grow, you’ll thrive here. We know no one fits every bullet point perfectly, so if you see aspects of your experience or interests reflected here, we’d love to learn more about you!

Our offer

We offer a pivotal role within our organization where you can have a huge amount of impact. You work on an innovative platform that is used daily by the world’s largest building companies globally. We cherish continuous learning and improvement and take pride in our diverse and inclusive company culture. You can count on the following:
