Job description

BIMcollab is the platform for smarter, faster BIM collaboration. Every day, our users generate rich data like geometry, clash results, issue logs, and user activity. We know there’s value hidden in that data. Your mission: help us find it.

We’re looking for a Data Scientist who can help explore, prototype and shape the way we apply data science and machine learning to our products. You’ll work closely with engineers and product managers to turn ideas into features that improve model quality, design decisions, and project outcomes. If ambiguity fuels your creativity and you’re driven to watch users poke, prod and improve your models in production, this is your playground.

Who are we?

BIMcollab/ KUBUS has been delivering BIM software solutions to the architecture, engineering, and construction industries since 1992. Our focus is on enabling data-driven, model-based workflows that improve quality and efficiency across the full building lifecycle.

With BIMcollab, our flagship product suite, we are the market leader in BIM quality control with model checking and issue management, stimulating BIM-based collaboration throughout the whole lifecycle of buildings or infrastructure. Our platform enables users to create and use a Digital Twin that becomes the single source of truth, from design and construction to management and maintenance.

We empower users to create and maintain high-quality buildings that are circular, energy efficient, and offer a safe environment. We shape the construction industry by facilitating an integrated BIM process with fast, innovative, and user-friendly solutions that integrate with all popular BIM tools. Through high-quality, service-oriented support we let our users experience the power and joy of a smooth BIM process.

We are a firm believer in the circular economy and are and advocate circular construction. Our software solutions contribute to the responsible use of our scarce resources. Enabling more sustainable decisions to be made from design to construction and then repurpose these materials during demolition. In our internal operations, we strive to be CO2-neutral. For example, the headquarters is virtually carbon-neutral, and KUBUS offsets all CO2 emissions by planting new trees in cooperation with Trees for All, of which we are a forest partner.

About your team

You’ll be the very first Data Scientist in a brand-new data team that’s still unpacking the moving boxes. Today it’s a lean group of data engineers and analysts who are creating pipelines that pull geometry, issue logs and telemetry out of BIMcollab, transform it into clean, trusted datasets, and surface it back to product squads in the form of experiments, models and dashboards. Together you’ll define the team’s DNA—processes, tech choices, cadence—while partnering tightly with product managers and engineers to make sure every experiment answers a customer-centred question.

About your role

You explore data and uncover patterns and sizing opportunities through fast notebooks and dashboards. You prototype ML models, run focused experiments with clear metrics, and shepherd winning ideas into production sidebyside with engineers. You refine our MLOps playbook—versioning, CI/CD, governance—and guide architectural choices that keep data accessible, scalable and costefficient. You translate insights into product narratives and visualisations that inform decisions, champion hypothesis driven development across the team, and stay on the pulse of machine learning, 3D vision and generative AI to bring the right ideas to our customers at the right moment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Explore & Discover – dig through heterogeneous sources (IFC/Revit geometry, revision history, usage telemetry) to size opportunities and uncover hidden patterns

  • Prototype & Experiment – spin up notebooks and lightweight pilots, define clear success metrics, and share insights that influence roadmap decisions

  • Steward Path-to-Production – co-design APIs and model-serving patterns, set monitoring/retraining standards, and help craft our MLOps guidelines

  • Help shape the “what & how” of data science – define the “what and how” of data-science execution, influence architecture for scalability and performance, and grow teammates’ AI/ML thinking

  • Tell the Story – translate findings into product narratives that resonate with engineers, designers and end-users, documenting assumptions and next steps along the way

Job requirements

What will make you successful in this role
You have steered at least one datascience idea from first hunch to a shipped, customer validated feature in a SaaS or platform context, and you’re ready to do it again.

What you’ll do

You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with product and engineering to turn fuzzy customer pains into clear, testable hypotheses. You’ll design the leanest possible experiments to confirm or refute those hypotheses and translate the outcomes into product decisions the whole team can rally behind.

How you work

Python, SQL and cloud-native workflows are second nature to you, and you know enough MLOps to keep models behaving in production. Faced with a brand new dataset—logs, documents, event streams, BIM models, you name it—you dive in, profile its structure, surface patterns, and frame data-backed opportunities. From there you spin up lightweight prototypes that early users can react to, learning from every “Yes, this helps” and every “Not yet.”

Why join us

We’re an early stage company, so the datascience playbook is yours to shape and you’ll see your work land in the product fast.

Bonus skills

Experience with graph embeddings, 3D geometry or BIM/IFC workflows is welcome but not required.

Our offer

We offer a pivotal role within our organization where you can have a huge amount of impact. You work on an innovative platform that is used daily by the world’s largest building companies globally. We cherish continuous learning and improvement and take pride in our diverse and inclusive company culture. You can count on the following:

  • A competitive compensation package.

  • Annual profit sharing.

  • 27 vacation days with an opportunity to buy additional days.

  • Above-average secondary employment conditions: a generous pension scheme and employee participation ensure great involvement of the employees.

  • Green benefits: compensation for all green home investments, electrification of the vehicle fleet, and a bicycle scheme.

  • Plenty of room for personal input, initiative and independence and good development and training opportunities with a yearly learning budget of 1500 EUR.

  • Contemporary extras such as a catered joint lunch, always fresh fruit.

  • You work from home if you want, for 2 days a week in our nearly energy-neutral work environment at the office, located in the centre of Eindhoven (walking distance from Central Station).

  • A monthly home office allowance.

  • Opportunity to work fully remote for up to 4 weeks a year!

At KUBUS, we strive for an inclusive and diverse work environment where everyone is welcome, regardless of their background, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, or disability. We encourage applicants with diverse perspectives and backgrounds to apply and believe in equal opportunities for all. We value the unique contributions that each employee can make and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone is respected and appreciated.
